2011 Victorian State Thermal Glider Champs at Diggers Rest


12 pilots joined in the fun and excitement of the annual VIC State Thermal Glider Champs at Diggers Rest last Sunday run by the RCGA.  

It was great to see some old names and new blood on the scene again..

Rod Watkins test flew his new Satori in Rnd 0 and Tim Lennon and Hugh Blackburn flew their Supra's.  

Conditions where tough all day. The strong NE wind direction didn't make it easy for the group.  

Some heats where won with 6 and 8 min flights...  

The wind backed off by mid afternoon making some heats easier, allowing a couple pilots to really speck out.. Jimmy flew the furthest and highest closely followed by Tim I think. We squeezed in 7 rounds dropping one. We might have been able to fit one more in but high winds and tough conditions meant line breaks and relaunches so we lost time there.  

In the end... It gave me great pleasure to announce the winner was Tim Lennon!!!! Tim flew really well all day, he pushed himself and did all the right things.. I was really impressed as we haven't seen him for months.
